Shipping
The industry has many associations of companies and stakeholders:
- European Community Shipowners Association (ECSA) represents national shipowners organisations in Brussels. A good route to finding the national shipowner associations
- International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). Also the International Shipping Federation. London-based and linked to the British Chamber of Shipping. It, with the other larger international organisations forms the Round Table of International Shipping Associations. Covers the globe, not just Europe.
- BIMCO, based in Copenhagen, it traces its name to Baltic International Maritime Council. Noted in particular for its work on Documentation & Contracts
- Intertanko represents independent tanker operators, specifically not the oil majors. It can speak with an independent (even random) voice
- Intercargo represents dry cargo carriers. London based
Collectively, these associations have prepared a set of Shipping Facts, and offer a useful set of links
Other industry groups are active:
And there are many sources of information:
Navigation Aids and Professional societies are stakeholders.
